Welcome back to our How to Draw for Kids series! In each article, we’ll guide your child through a fun and simple drawing project. This time, it’s an adorable owl. These tutorials are designed to be easy enough for beginners and enjoyable for young artists of all ages. All you need is a pencil, an eraser, some paper, and optional coloring supplies like crayons, markers, or colored pencils.

You can also download a printable PDF of this tutorial using the link below—perfect for keeping screen time to a minimum while letting creativity shine.
Let’s grab your pencil and get to it!
Step-by-Step Instructions:
Step 1:
Start by sketching a large circle near the top of the page. This will be the owl’s head.

Step 2:
Draw two half-circles on the top left and right side of the head—these will define the owl’s feathered “eyebrows.” Then, below the head, sketch an oval for the body.

Step 3:
Inside the head circle, draw two large round circles for the owl’s eyes. Add small triangular ears on each side of the top of the head.

Step 4:
In between the eyes, draw a small triangle for the beak. Then, sketch two little clawed feet beneath the body using simple curved lines.

Step 5:
Draw a black dot inside each eye to make the pupils. Then, add small feather patterns to the owl’s chest using scalloped or wavy lines.

Step 6:
Finally, sketch two curved shapes on the sides of the body to form the owl’s wings. These can be slightly folded or drooping for a cute look.

When you’re happy with the lines, go ahead and color your owl however you like! Try browns, grays, or get creative with bright colors. Don’t worry about being exact—change shapes, add fun patterns, and most importantly, relax and have fun!
